The study trip has to be organized by someone. This time the study trip has five people that are responsible for the organization.

Anke de Haan (Chair)
Hello! My name is Anke de Haan and I am the chair
of the BE 2026. As chair, I have to make sure that we
are on schedule and that everyone is doing their part.
Also, I make sure that we have fun as committee, by
planning nice trips and eating lots of apple pie.
I am currently doing the Master Applied Physics,
following the photonics track. In my free time, I
like to swim, run, play the piano or do handcrafts.
Besides, I have been part of multiple committees of
Arago. My focus is now on organizing the BE. It
is a very valuable learning experience and it brings
a lot of responsibility. I very much look forward to
the study tour and visiting all physics companies and
universities. I hope all of us will have lots of fun and
discover a lot about Canada.

Thymen Sewüster (Secretary & Logistics)
Hi all, my name is Thymen Sew¨uster, and I am
both the Secretary and Commissioner of Logistics of
the committee. As Secretary, I take minutes during
meetings and try to help keep everything organized.
For logistics, I mainly work with the travel agency to
arrange transportation and accommodation for the
cities we will visit, I am also busy making a schedule
for the trip.
I am currently in the first year of the Master’s in
Applied Physics, where I am combining the photonics
and materials science tracks. Besides my studies, I am
an active member of Arago and participate in several
committees. In my free time, I enjoy playing games
with friends and occasionally going for a run. I am
very excited for this trip and look forward to learning
from the research groups and companies we will visit.

Esther DiVincenzo (Treasurer)
Hi readers, I am Esther DiVincenzo and I am the
treasurer of this committee. As treasurer, my task
is to make a budget plan, estimate our liquidity, send
invoices and complain when we haven’t received the
money on time and much more.
I am currently in a limbo between the Bachelor Ap-
plied Physics and the Master Applied Physics, as I
have no more courses to do for my Bachelor but I
can’t start my Master yet. Next to hoarding a lot
of money, I like to do all sorts of exercise, such as run-
ning, swimming and dancing. Next to that, I also play
the clarinet in SHOT, the concert band of the univer-
sity. I’m very curious about all the research groups
and companies that we will be visiting, so I can’t wait
until the trip!

Remon te Brake (External Affairs)
Hey! My name is Remon te Brake and I am the
Commissioner of External Affairs of the BE 2026. As
the external I have as a goal to get as much money
as possible such that we can have a nice study trip.
I make sure that every student did a case study or
is busy with a case study for which they earn money
that goes to the study trip. In addition, I look for
sponsors such as research groups.
Currently, I am doing the Master Applied Physics,
following the materials track. In my spare time, I like
to play football or road bowling and spending time
with my friends. Now I am busy with the last steps
for organizing the BE. I am looking forward to meet
a lot of new people at the companies and universities
we will visit and hope to learn a lot there! I hope you
will have as much fun as me.

Tigo Mesie (Foreign Affairs & Educational Affairs)
Hi all, I am Tigo Mesie and I am both the commis-
sioner of Foreign Affairs and the commissioner of Edu-
cational Affairs of the committee. As Foreign Affairs,
I organised the visits to most companies, and made
sure to find some unforgettable labs to visit. As Ed-
ucational Affairs, I planned the lessons which the stu-
dents attended in order to learn more about Canada,
mainly about it’s culture and history but also about
the companies that we will be visiting.
I am currently a fourth year bachelors student at Ap-
plied Physics here in the lovely Enschede. During my
time as a student here, I was (and am of course) an ac-
tive member of study association Arago. I took part in
many committees before joining the BE, and last year
also did a board year as Commissioner of Educational
Affairs (yes, this is the second time I have this role)
in the greatest board to ever exist. I am also an avid
runner, but not for the long distances. I mostly do
short sprints (upto 400 meters), and no, I will not join
you on your marathon trainings. That was all for my
short introduction, I hope you’ll enjoy the upcoming
trips!
